【Meds】

Dissolved, tablets flat below my tongue, sweetened gently, though hardly recognizable against the subtle fizz. I beg for it to work, to kick in faster than usual--miserable and awaiting death, I wished for no more than the fall where I stood, rest until a dawn too close to bear. Yet I am not but drowsy, tied down to a need for rest and the inability to both wake nor sleep. Once again, it failed me, the fine print on flimsy boxes failed to live their name. My health, forever more, to pay the price.
